Tummy Time

Each morning we've been trying to do tummy time each morning after eating and getting Nathan dressed so that I have a few minutes to finish getting ready before getting out the door.  He's doing better and lasting longer each time.  He pushes with his legs and then tries to get his hands in his mouth which usually leads to him falling into the hole of the Boppy.

We're trying to get on a schedule now that daycare is pretty much figured out.  Please pray with us that this will come together soon.  We need to get our nights figured out!

My Tiger Fans

Today when we tried the Tigers onesy, it fit!  Yea, Aunt Michelle!  Thankfully, it's a little bit big so we should be able to wear it a few times.
My guys - hanging out.  Barry's been able to get Nathan to laugh some the last couple of days.  He sets Nathan on his stomach and somehow he'll get Nathan to giggle at him.
Tomorrow they are showing the Tigers/Boston game so we may have to wear Tigers clothes tomorrow too!

Seriously?

You never would guess that in between these "serious" pictures, Nathan was smiling and laughing.  Just as I would click the picture, he'd get all serious!

The ladies in the nursery said that he looked like he'd grown since they saw him last Sunday.  I'm not sure why.  He was wearing a 6 month outfit - because it's a one piece and he's so long in the torso.  It did look big on him, but it was just right in the torso.

Pool Time!

We weren't prepared to go to the pool, but how can you keep a baby from putting his toes in the water?  It was actually kind of comical... He didn't know what to make of it all and was ready to scream, but then decided it was okay.
He sat with Rick for a while and watched Ellie swim around and pick up those toys (to Rick's left) from the bottom of the pool.  He got splashed too!
Don't worry!  We did have sunscreen on him and right after this, he had his hat on too.

I got it!

I got my foot! :)  This week Nathan has done a new trick - grabbing his feet.  He was even crossing over and using his left hand to get his right foot!

We do his pink medicine in his car seat - so he's got his bib on and is ready to go!  Big eyes! :)

Feeling Better?

Nathan was diagnosed with an ear infection on Monday night and we started amoxicillin. He was supposed to start feeling better after two days and I suppose he really was doing better at daycare, but he was still struggling with feeding with me. So the norm has been to have a bib on and then hope that with a combination of efforts from mom & dad that most of the medicine gets in his body.

Look at those cute feet!

Shake, Rattle, Roll...

Nathan has figured out how to shake his rattles now.  He doesn't realize how close it is to his head and will hit himself, but it doesn't seem to faze him!

(Sorry the quality is so poor - evidently I didn't have enough light when I recorded it.)

Sleeping

The morning dawned bright but since we'd had a rough day & night, this little one fell back to sleep after his early morning feeding.  He took over my spot in bed, and what a cutey he is!  Sleep sweet, little one!

I'm a Tigers' Fan!

Barry has absolutely been dying to have Nathan wear some Detroit Tiger outfits that our sister-in-law had gotten for Nathan.  I was searching through our bins of bigger clothes and found this onesy that my sister had found for Nathan.  I wish that I had been paying attention better because this could have been worn -- it's a little short in the torso.  Oh well!
He wouldn't look up, but here he is next to the Tigers pillow.
 I'm trying to smile!
How many fingers can you fit in your mouth?  Surprisingly, he can usually fit 4!

Trying Hard

Nathan is trying hard to move his upper body.  He's putting forth a lot of effort to hold up his torso and move toward Barry.

This baby's growing up!

Daycare Cards

I missed Teacher Appreciation Week, so I've just been trying to do little things here and there for our daycare workers.  This week, I made up these little cards for each of the ladies who works with Nathan.

The brown one is for Erica.  I used 4 different papers and used a burgundy e that I adhered with 3d tape.  The blue one is for Brittany.  I used 4 papers and a blue b.  I also used 3d tape to adhere the square with the b on it to the card.  The red one is for Jenny Lee.  I used 3 papers and wrote her name in cursive.  The last one is for Kelsey.  Nathan likes her a lot.  This one has 4 papers.  I just cut out the k myself.

Morning Smiles

Nathan is definitely a morning person.  He woke up at 6 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday.  Since we have to get up so early during the week, I know it confuses him when we don't on the weekend.  Even still, by the time he's done eating at 6am ish, he starts smiling and talking.

Good morning!

My Mother's Day Card

Isn't it so sweet?!  The daycare had Nathan make a card for me for Mother's Day.  The feet are just too precious.

Visiting Uncle Rick

Over the weekend, we visited some friends.  One of these friends is Uncle Rick!  It was Rick's birthday on Saturday so we thought we'd stop by and see him.  It was a great visit as he also had his kids with him and they got to play with Nathan too.  Nathan even took a nap with Rick!

Mother's Day

We had a good day!  Nathan woke up early, but Barry took him out to the livingroom so I could sleep a little longer.  We had Chinese for lunch and hung out all afternoon & evening.  It was nice to relax together andnot have to go anywhere.

This day is such a miracle.  Although I was already pregnant last Mother's Day, we didn't know it.  The church we were attending gave out gifts for mothers and they gave one to me.  I was upset and couldn't imagine why I had to go through another reminder that we didn't have a child.  What a miracle God performed!  Here we are with a baby 3 months old and marvel that God would entrust us with this child.  Just like Hannah, we can say, "For this child I prayed..."

Hats!

It's a Saturday and it's supposed to rain all day.  Sounds like a good day to wear a hat!  Nathan has now graduated to hat #3 on his way to hopefully wear his Tigers hat soon.  This is a Gap ballcap and it's a bit big but should work for a little bit.

We went to a friend's yard sale who is raising money for their adoption fees.  Then we visited some other friends and eventually made our way home!

Mother's Day Gift

I, myself, have been meaning to get a brag book to show off my baby boy, so I guess that's what got me thinking about the grandmas.  I found these brag books at Target where the plastic cover allows for you to remove the boring solid color cover and replace with a creative one!  So, I made a front and back cover.
The green cover has some paper that says different variations of mom on it and then I added some green paper and a blue circle.  I added some cream ribbon and a pop-out sticker that says grandkids.  The red heart paper has two pieces of ribbon - white organdy and red ric-rac along with a sticker - Love my grandkids.  Of course I added pictures of Nathan, but I did leave room for other grandkids!

I didn't take pictures of the cards - it just slipped my mind.  One was mostly red and the other was flowerdy.  I know that description just is so clear on what they look like!

Bath time fun!

So, Nathan has been loving bath time.  For the last 3 times, he's peed on us - once on Barry and twice on me.  This time we had a plan - cover him up and minimize the risk!  He hasn't figured out how to splash although Barry shows him each time how to!

More Cards

This is a birthday card for my friend at work.  I used 6 different papers.  I used the die-cut to make 4 different sized stars and then adhered them with 3d tape.
This card is for a co-worker in my department who just had surgery.  I used 3 different papers and then some ribbon that I tied.
This card is for another co-worker who had surgery.  I used 3 papers and some brown ribbon.

May Craftiness

May has a bunch of birthdays and events that require some planning.  So, we started organizing what we were going to do.  This is the first of a couple posts showing some crafting I did.
These are the little 2x3 inch cards (using business cards).  The top one is for a co-worker who had a birthday on Monday.  I used 4 types of papers, hot pink grosgrain ribbon, and a white "a" sticker.  The bottom one was for another co-worker.  I used 3 types of paper, ribbon, and a pink sequin.
This is a regular sized card using a template that I've used many times.  I used 4 different papers.  I made a candle for the birthday reference, the individual's initial, and the bottom square has 3 white sequins.  I just wrote Happy Birthday on the inside.

3 Months Old

 Waving that arm!
Here I am - resting on my turtle!

When we went in last week to the doctor's, Nathan weighed 11 pounds, 15 ounces which is just 1 pound more than at 2 months.  We didn't get the length though.  He's changing some each day.  What a blessing from God!

Talking with Daddy

Nathan has become quite vocal (now that he's feeling almost back to normal).  He's been chatting away with us over the last couple of days for an extended period of time (a few minutes).  He's such a cutey and you just wonder what he's trying to say.

Also, a first for today is when I went to reach for him from Barry, he tried to move toward me!  Also, Barry had him resting on his legs, holding his arms and Nathan was trying to pull himself toward Barry (the same sort of movement).

Crafting with Mom

Nathan helped me out this afternoon to do some crafting for his grandmas.  He actually sat with me for quite a while so that we could get it finished up.  Then, he went and sat with Daddy to watch some baseball while I worked on some birthday cards.

We had a good morning having our first family portraits available.  I got a card in the mail with a great deal - no sitting fees (usually $9.99 each), 2 free 8x10s, and then any sheets we bought were $3.99 each.  It was a bit of a scramble to get a nap in and feed him before the appointment, but we did it!  The photographer did a good job trying to get him to smile and the only hiccup was the hiccups he had at the beginning!

Comparing...

I was trying to "clean out" my camera the other day as there were well over 500 pictures on it and came across a bunch of pictures of my nephew when he was first born (evidently that's when I must have gotten the camera!).  I just had to marvel at the differences between him and Nathan.
Look at all that hair!!!!  He was born with a full head :)  He's actually just over 3 months old in this picture.
Now, here's Nathan!  He's hardly got anything in comparison!  He's almost 3 months.

Isn't it amazing how even in the same family that our children could look so different?  I know that it isn't quite the same as siblings, but they are first cousins.  God is so creative - knitting each one in their mother's womb, to be the person that He wants them to be - the right combination of their mom & dad.

Daycare Fun

Each morning when we drop of Nathan, he gets to spend time with a special lady - Mrs. Jenny Lee!  Jenny Lee is the director of the daycare and our friend for the last 3-4 years.  Since Nathan is most alert at this time of the morning, he talks and smiles at her (exclusively) for the first part of the day.  She's a great lady and we're so glad to be able to have Nathan at the daycare.
