Martha's Gift

Here is Martha & I at her birthday dinner tonight.

Martha's theme has been JOY.  She has been collecting items that say JOY over the last few months so I decided to make a set a cards for her birthday.  In each of these cards, I accented the word JOY to stand out.  She was very happy to receive them!

Cinnamon Rolls

We were celebrating a co-worker's birthday today with a breakfast break and so I decided to make homemade cinnamon rolls. This was a big thing growing up. When my mom had a day off and could take some time to make a big meal, often she would make cinnamon rolls. Having helped a few times and knowing the general procedure to do it, I got the details from her and had a go. Here's the result:

Barry's not a big fan of cinnamon so I have to reserve those recipes for things that we're not going to eat together. I brought the big pan to work and he took the smaller pan to his work. They turned out great (but wished they would have been freshly baked, cuz that's the best!).

Happy Birthday, Martha!

My co-worker, Martha is celebrating her 65th on Thursday. I'm going to take her out on Wed. for lunch so I wanted to have her gift ready. She loves giraffes so I found this giraffe paper and made the card. I used chocolate cardboard letters for the h & b and then wrote in my favorite font for the -appy & -irthday.
Here's a sneak peak to what I made for Martha's gift!

Cool pictures

These pictures are from a site called Be Funky (http://www.befunky.com/). Aren't they so cool? It's a free site.
This is me and my friend Laurie.

This is me and my niece when she was about 18 months.

This is Barry & I from a hockey game.

Here we are at the Bass Pro Shop (see the deer near my head?).

This one is just one we took at the house. It looks much better like this than the actual picture.

Check it out!

Believe

I found this cool paper that I had in my stash and just added the green ribbon and this tag that says believe.  Unfortunately, I used Mono Multi on it when I should have probably done a couple zots and there are a few dark splotches from the glue.  Lesson learned.  I'm giving this to a family at our church who's going through a hard time.  Pretty simple, but gets the point across.

Hope cards

It's funny how these both ended up with similar colors, as this was not my intention, but nevertheless, they are.  I have a friend that likes HOPE, so I found this set of stickers and paper that almost exactly matched.  Then I wrote Ps. 39:7 with it.  Turned out pretty cool.
I had found this neat quote on something else that I had been given and decided to incorporate it into this card for a friend that's going through a tough time.  It's ironic that both cards ended up with the same theme and I like how they turned out.  Hope they like them!

Sympathy Cards

Unfortunately, there have been two co-workers who have lost their mothers in the last month.  I have been intending to make cards for them, but have just been slow to do it.  I finally had time to catch up on all those "should do's" and made these two cards.

I made them with the similar design, just different papers and embellishments.  The pink card has a leather flower and pink & burgundy ribbons.  The blue card has a 3-d butterfly with raffia wrapped around.  I plan to put inside a verse of Scripture.

Valentine's Day!

When we opened the mail on Friday, look at what we found:
Pretty cool, huh?!  My parents sent us Valentines!  Fun times!  Hope you had a good Valentine's Day.  I think we're going to go out for dinner so that'll be nice.

Rest of the Thank Yous

I just added a simple ribbon and wrote the words "With sincerest thanks!"

I found these patterned papers that were similar in color, the Thank You ribbon, and the flowers.  I added a quote that I found recently to pull it all together.  Pretty funky.

Last but not least I made an embellishment with the papers in the card and added Thank You to one of the colored blocks.

My friend wants me to regularly make her sets!  Woo hoo!

Valentines

I decided to make up some valentines for our nieces and nephews. I think I will add a few little touches (like their name) to the front and then write a little note on the back. It's not much, but just wanted to let them know that we love them! Are you doing something special for the ones you love?
This is some cute love paper that I added ribbon and a heart to. They are about 3"x3" big (I think the one with black ribbon is a little bigger). I used the wonderful Mono Multi glue . You should look into using it -- it's very good at adhering anything!

Thank you

I used a pink leather flower and a white die cut flower for this card.  At the top right are 5 sequins.  As you can see a floral pattern was the theme.
Across the bottom is pink ribbon.  There is an embellishment that I had already of 4 flowers.  I wrote out the thanks with my favorite font.  I liked this paper that used dots to make the flower shapes.
I sort of used a design that I saw at the CPS website.  I found that I had this paper that all sort of matched and then found this heart that I think was supposed to be a gift tag.  I wrapped ribbon and rafia around it and just did a simple thank you on top.

The next installment will be coming soon!

Happy Birthday, Laurie!

It's my co-worker & buddy, Laurie's birthday today.  I was trying to think of a creative thing to do for her birthday and finally decided that going to a tea house and spending some quality time together would be the better option.  So, I made this little gift card for her to have and I put it in the card (cut slits in the card to hold it).  I think that it'll be a fun time!  The card is a normal gift card size (even though it looks as big as the card!).

It's been a long week, but I was productive on Saturday.  I'll be posting pictures of cards that I made for a set of 6.  Hope you have a good week!

Mom & Dad's Anniversary

On Saturday we took my parents out to Red Lobster for their 32nd anniversary! We met up with them and Katie in Huntsville (a central location).

Even though Barry's not too fond of hockey, everyone else wanted to go to the game. It was University of Alabama-Huntsville vs. Niagra.

As you can see the arena wasn't very full. The game was at 3pm so it was a nice afternoon adventure.

Aren't we silly?!

We didn't get home till 10pm!!! But, it was a nice day to be with family.
