Packing Up, Day 2

Wow.  Last night was c-r-a-z-y!  Had we thought about it, we should have had some friends come over and help (well, maybe no friends would have volunteered for this project).  It was intense.

We moved everything out of the kitchen back to the spots in Nathan's room and the living room so that we could put in stuff from the office and the bedroom.

 We had to be careful where we put stuff so that the workers could still get through with the new carpet.  (It's a little darker than what we had before, but it's new and clean!)

Packing up, Day 1

No, we're not moving... But we're getting new carpet in the house!!!!

Wow.  It is a big project.  Thankfully, we just have to get the small stuff picked up, but that's a challenge in and of itself.  

We packed stuff in the kitchen (no carpet here!) and moved the cat stuff into our bedroom (their abode for the day).

Here's the trouble spot -- the office is filled to the brim!  Tonight's work would be heavy since we'd have to move out the extras and what was in here normally.

Two for Tuesday

We had a great Memorial Day weekend with my parents -- going to a ball game and picking up some fun outside toys for Nathan to play on (they were free!).  A new thing for this weekend:  he frequently shook his head "No" when he didn't want food.  He's getting to be picky with what he eats!

Sounds Game

Root, root, root for the home team

They won 3-2, but it was close in the 9th inning (the tying run was on 2nd).

We were a little uncertain what the day would hold as the Sounds are the lowest in their division (14 wins-34 losses!).  There definitely were fewer fans there, but it was a good day for baseball.  We did general admission seats and found seats in the shade.  It was a Faith Fun day so if you had a bulletin you could get $5 off tickets.  It was a great time!

Doesn't this just make you want to curl up and take a nap?

Isn't it amazing how our God is so involved in the details of our lives?!  We were very concerned that moving to the next age group room at daycare would be difficult for Nathan for getting rest.  They only lay the mats down for a certain point in the day and since he struggled with napping already, we were worried that he'd be grouchy and a problem for the workers.  But, this has not been a problem!  They lay down and he goes right to sleep.  Granted he doesn't sleep as long for them as he does for us on the weekend, but he averages about 1 1/2 hours!

Thank you, Lord for this small issue that You have cared about for our sweet Nathan!

It's Thursday!

Ha ha!  Nathan rarely wants to look at the camera any longer for a picture so you have to be creative.  He was smiling big at Daddy who was over at the car.

Guess what Nathan did yesterday?!  He took his first steps at daycare!!!!!  We got him home and had him walk between Barry & I and he took a few steps for us too.  He was very exhausted last night so we couldn't do much with him!

As you can see, we had a full day!  We started off at a soccer game down the street, then after nap time, went for a bike ride to daycare, and topped it off with swinging in the new swing.  Yea for nice weather!

Friday Fun

His shirt says outside explorer and that is the truth!  He loves to touch anything nature-ish and see what it's all about.

Maybe the rain won't interfere with our plans for Saturday, but who knows!  Today was a wash (our field day activities were cancelled by 9am because it was raining so bad).

Ummm... Can you see how wild his hair is this morning?!  Evidently, his hair was still a tad wet when he went to bed last night.  It's time for a hair cut!

Two for Tuesday

One year ago... Wearing our hats together on a rainy Saturday

Our little family, today (well, Sunday!)  This was the best of 3 pictures, but we all had red eyes... therefore, touch-ups had to occur.  At least he's looking and has a little bit of a smile on his face.

Last night we had a bit of a temper situation... Nathan likes to yell -- I'm sure it's just testing his vocal cords to see what will happen.  We've been telling him to use an indoor voice and will touch his cheek to say to not to do it.  He kept going and going even though we kept correcting him.  So, I put him in his bed for a minute or so.  Well, you would have thought we were using torturing techniques on him.  I went and got him and talked quietly with him about using his inside voice.  He did better the rest of the evening.  Wow.

Nathan still has not been drinking his milk during the day.  He only drank 3 oz on Monday.  The nurse at the pediatrician's office said to withhold water so that he knows he has to drink milk, but no matter what they do, he just isn't drinking.  ARG!  Keep praying that he'll start drinking it again.

Cozy Coupe Fun

He started moving his legs some to get the car moving.  Isn't it funny that he's going backwards?

We're looking forward to nice weather the next few days so that we can do more outside things!

Firsts...

Unfortunately, Nathan didn't like the hot dogs. We sort of mis-judged the cooking time and they were a little burnt, but I scraped that off so that he could eat it.  He wasn't very impressed.  Bummer.

First bike ride!

We got this seat for $15!!!!  Now, we just need a helmet.  (The helmets cost more than the seat!) We just went for a little ride around the neighborhood to try it out.  It was fun to hear him laughing and talking.  Barry said that he waved at a couple of guys we passed.

Muffins with Mom

We started the Mother's Day celebration early with "Muffins with Mom" on Friday at daycare.  I shared a cinnamon muffin with Nathan and then had a chocolate one for the road. Yum, yum!

They took a picture of us at last year's event, but we didn't get the digital pic. All I found in my picture file from last year was a picture of my card from Nathan.  I must have done the post on Mothers Day from home.  See here.

Morning Fun

As we get ready in the morning, there's a period of 2-4 minutes before he eats breakfast where Nathan has to amuse himself.  Typically Barry is brushing his teeth and I'm finishing dressing.  Nathan wants to be close by so we've come up with a solution.  He will sit in the doorway of the bathroom and play with some toys.  Here he can see both Barry & I and we don't have to try and hold him while we're finishing up.

Yep, today is again a cooler day so we're back to blue jeans!  No jacket as it didn't get chilly overnight, but definitely blue jeans!  Rain is here.

Crawling

I'm not sure why exactly Nathan decided he needed to crawl, but for about a month or more now he's been crawling.  In fact, he'll often plop down from standing and proceed to crawl.  He is still much quicker to scoot, but is less likely to try.  Did someone tell him he wasn't normal?!  I don't know.  Maybe this transition from scooting to crawling will help him to walk?  Very interesting!

Yum Yum!

Muffins are Nathan's favorite thing right now.  I make them as mini muffins which are a good portion size for him.  He can have 2 or 3 and it is a good snack.  So far we've had banana nut, oatmeal, and wildberry.  I think that if muffins are the favorite food, we don't have too much wrong going on!  He knows that they are in a plastic container on the island in the kitchen and points to them that he wants one.

Two for Tuesday

We've got the "Boogie Fever" and yes, you'd be expected to dance when Nathan opens the card!  He looks at you and expects you to make some sort of movement!

Here's his 15 month stats:
Weight: 21.9 lbs (same as 12 month weight)
Height: 32.9 inches (almost 1 1/2 inches taller than at 12 months!)

Flashback one year...
Here's Nathan with Turtle one year ago.  At 3 months, there isn't a checkup, but we had been in the doctor's office because he was sick.  His weight was 11 pounds, 15 ounces at the time.  So, he's almost doubled it in one year.

15 Months Old

He's growing up... We've got our 15 month check-up today and 2 shots ahead of him.  Yuck!  Obviously the teeth are bothering him, but what can you do?  Today is the first day in the 1 year old room.  No more crib -- only a mat to sleep on.  He's not the youngest in the class, but the only one who isn't walking.  What a big boy!

The weather has continued with it's crazy pattern and we're back to the chilliness again.  The rain is coming and the system is bringing cool weather. So much for yard work or doing anything outside!

With the weather fluctuating so much lately (sweatshirts on Saturday and shorts on Wednesday), it's been a bit harder for the plants to bloom.  We were excited for the irises to finally bloom.
