Dump Truck Shirt

Nathan got this shirt from his cousin Aaron.  Aaron really wanted it for himself because he loves all sorts of construction equipment.  It was still a little big, but hopefully that means he'll be able to wear it a couple more times.

Nathan is actually sleeping in this picture!  As I snapped the picture, he smiled.  He's still struggling with coughing, but he's headed to daycare.  Hopefully we can get him past all this yuckiness.

Our Sick Little Guy

This little guy has been struggling with congestion.  It was just in his head, but now it's moved in his chest.  The poor guy is coughing and occasionally spitting up some yucky stuff.  Unfortunately, there is nothing we can really do.  We've been having him sit in the bathroom to get the steam.  Then, we use saline in his nose and the aspirator to pull out anything that'll come.  We also have Baby Vicks that we've been putting on his chest.  He's not been eating very well either.  We're praying that he'll be better soon!

I Dig my Mom!

The weather was finally good today (last week the highs were in the low 50s) so Nathan was finally able to wear this cute outfit.  Aaron (his cousin) would be so jealous since it has some construction equipment on it.
Nathan & I took a picture together.  My eyes are still bad (itchy) so I'm going back and forth with my glasses.
One funny thing that happened today was from breakfast.  I was talking with Nathan and he was making noises at me.  All of the sudden his eyes closed and he was asleep!  One second he's making noises and talking to me and the next he's sound asleep.  Guess he was worn out.

Overalls

Barry has this thing with overalls so we've purchased quite a few for Nathan.  But, today was the first day that he's actually worn them.  Isn't he a cutey?!

We have found that Nathan is a "morning baby".  He loves to talk and laugh in the morning.  He's not been feeling the best this week and today was the first time this week that he's been so animated.

Little Lion

This is one of the finds from the weekend -- isn't it so cute?!  There's the lion on the butt and then on the front it says, "I rule in my little kingdom."

Here Nathan is trying to do some "Tummy Time" while I finish getting ready.

(Sorry I'm not sure how to turn the picture... They changed how the Blogger set-up is and I haven't figured it out yet.)

Barry's Birthday

It's a little big, but it'll work!
It's Barry's birthday and Nathan and I have been scheming for a little while.  We worked with my sister-in-law to get a cute hat so that Barry and Nathan could be twins (but not Minnesota Twins - ha - Jere & Lindz!) and we made his special birthday card while we were still at home together.

Isn't he so cute handing Daddy his birthday card?!  Awww!

Our Finds

This past Saturday was the mile-long yard sale in Watertown.  It had been raining and we weren't sure that we were going to be able to go, but the rain slacked off so we decided to go and see what we could find.

Our finds totaled $9 and we got twelve items.  We found 3 pairs of overalls, 2 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, and a pants & shirt set.  Most of the items are bigger for Nathan to grow into.

He's Surviving

I don't know if Nathan knows he just has one more day to go, but what a relief for a mother's heart to pick him up today and see all the smiles that he had for us. When we left him this morning, I was fearing that I'd get a call that he was sick and we needed to come pick him up. He was very congested and wouldn't nurse this morning. Now, granted he's been supery-de-duperty tired (he's struggling to sleep during the day), but I wasn't sure if he was coming down with a cold.

But, praise God, he was doing much better and ate well during the day today. Hopefully we'll find that he's doing better tonight and into the morning. Only one more day. We can do it, right?

Co-worker Card

While I had already made a card and gave it to my co-worker who is leaving our workplace, I was asked at the last minute to make a card for our floor as we were having a good-bye break on Thursday. So here's what I made on the fly...

I used pink and green as my main colors since that's what the party colors were. I found this other paper that I had with the flowers on it that had pink and green on it to tie it together. I used some hot pink grosgrain ribbon and 3d tape to make the "a" stand out. This quickie turned out pretty good if I do say so my self.

Swing Time

Nathan's gotten to where he doesn't mind the swing too much. When we first put him in it (at 2 weeks of age), he was not too keen on it. We figured he wasn't heavy enough because the swing moved pretty quick - even on the lowest speed. Now that he's 10+ pounds, it's not too fast and he likes looking around at everything from it. He ended up falling asleep during this particular ride, for about 20 minutes.
The look on his face is priceless!
This sleeper was just a little unusual to me. When does a monkey hold a chick? The tag on the right side of the sleeper says 100% huggable. I know Nathan's huggable, but... He also had monkey heads on the feet.

First Day at Daycare

The day has finally come... duh duh duh (did that sound ominous?!) We worked all weekend to get ready and had brought his supplies over to the daycare on Friday. Nathan took two bottles (one Saturday and one Sunday) and slept for a half hour in his crib. We were as ready as we could be!
Doesn't he look like he's excited for the day?!
After hearing many women say that the first day would be awful, I didn't know what to think. Some ladies at my office got me these beautiful flowers and an encouraging card. So many people talked to me, texted me, and prayed for us during the day and it was very much appreciated. We had a decent day and we rushed back to the daycare to get him. He didn't sleep well during the day, but slept most of the evening and through the night (just had to get up once in the night!). Hopefully the week will continue to go well.

Working in the Yard

We decided to do some much needed yard work on Saturday. After Nathan helped me mow, he supervised Daddy pulling weeds.
Here he's offering advice to Daddy on what to do next!
He's too cute! If the hat is down where it should be on his head, he can't see very well. This worked just fine.
Whew! We were wiped and needed a nap! (Don't you love Nathan resting his arm on Daddy?)

Nathan & the Mat

Nathan has been enjoying laying on the floor with this cool mat that a co-worker gave as a baby gift. The bee has a music box in it that plays a neat assortment of melodies.

I noticed Thursday that he was hitting the one hangy down thing with his right hand pretty regularly. Before, it was pretty much an accident if he happened to hit it. So, when he started hitting the hangy thing and the bee and talking to them, I figured I needed to capture it. He isn't talking much in this video (of course!), but he was chatting up a storm before and after.

Some Cards

Over the last week, I've had a little time to make some cards.
This is for a nephew turning 1 year old! I used 2 papers, some letters I had to spell out his name, and I used 3-d tape to adhere the birthday candle. I wrote happy birthday on the side by the candle. Inside I put a pocket to hold a gift card. This is a special card that I made for my mom just to say thanks for the many things that she's done for us since Nathan's arrived. I used polka dots as my theme - 2 papers and ribbon and then wrote out her name on pink squares. I added some swirls that I had that had similar colors to what was on the card.
This last card is for a co-worker who is leaving the office to get married. I used 4 different papers and tried to focus on the swirls for the design. I used a chipboard design that I painted black and then wrote her name in silver. I added a piece of organdy ribbon around the middle.

Finally - 2 month picture!

Did you think I forgot? Since we were traveling last Friday (his actual 2 month day), we didn't get the shot with Mr. Turtle. This week has been full each evening and I didn't have the chance to take it, so today it is! He was actually giving me all sorts of smiles but when the camera came close, he would stop. I think this one turned out just fine!
A new skill: playing with something in his hand. Yea, Nathan!
Stats: He's now 10 pounds, 14 ounces (almost gained 2 pounds since 1 month visit). Also, he's 23 1/2 inches long - 2 inches longer than at 1 month visit.

Thrush

When we went to the doctor last week, we found out that Nathan has thrush. This is a yeast infection in his mouth on each side of his cheeks. It's not unusual for babies to get it as their bodies adjust to life, but nevertheless, you have to get medicine for it.

Our nurse practitioner recommended that we get Gentian violet to put on it and it would clear up in less than a week. Violet means purple and sure enough we're purple! Thankfully it wears off as the day goes on. Treatment is just 2x a day. We're hopeful to be done before daycare on Monday. Poor thing!

Sitting up

Nathan is doing better at sitting and not sliding all over the place. He can sit propped up in a corner on the couch and then here, he's sitting in his Boppy.

Another milestone is his nighttime sleeping. He did 6 hour stretches toward the end of the week and over the weekend, but has only done 4+ hour stretches the last two nights. Most impressive, though, is that he is almost immediately falling back to sleep. This means no one has had to take him out of the room to rock or rest on the couch with him. Yea, Nathan!

[He's in his baseball blanket because the season has started. Tigers are 3-0!!!]

Few More from the Weekend

It's interesting to me how although there are others who we're with when we do these family weekends that we don't get them in a picture -- Where was Papa, Melissa, & Ewell? They must be camera shy, I guess!

The kids just loved Baby Nate -- giving him lots of kisses and trying to help with things.

Look! I can do it! Not only did he get this rattle, but the Vernons gave him a rattle and Nana gave him some keys. He's done well holding them!
Had to show the back of his outfit... So cute!

Easter

Even though we weren't at home, the Easter Bunny was able to find us!
Nana is showing Nathan his Easter baskets!
Here Nathan is in his Easter outfit (long sleeves as it was chilly!) and his basket.

Hanging with my peeps!

We got this t-shirt from friends in Michigan and thought it was quite appropriate for the Easter weekend.
Here is Nathan with the Vernon peeps:

Short Layover

Since we hadn't seen the Puschs in a while, we decided to drive to their place Thursday night and hang out a bit Friday morning with them. Aaron had fun with Baby Nate and shared a bunch of stuff with him. Unfortunately, (again) I didn't get a good picture of the two of them together so this is a picture from their February visit.

When we finally did arrive in Cana, Friday night, we had dinner at a park with the family and went for a walk. Barry had an accident while we were there - he fell and hit his head pretty good. He didn't black out, but was dizzy and had a pretty massive migraine. He was feeling somewhat better by Saturday, but that headache held on. (Thankfully, he is back to normal as of Tuesday.)

2 Month Check-Up

It's a bit hard to see (he wouldn't stay still!), but our little one got his first shots today. We had our two month check-up with lots of questions for the pediatrician. He got one oral medicine and then 3 shots. You should have seen his face and heard the cry he gave when the nurse gave the shots. He was so sad.
Poor baby! The band-aids were Daffy Duck. What child in this day and age knows who Daffy Duck is?
