Two for Tuesday

It seems hardly any time elapses and this boy needs a haircut!  We went again on Friday where there was much crying and gnashing of teeth (Barry's!).  The lady that we'd had cutting his hair has moved to a different salon so we were tormenting a new hair dresser.  Maybe one of these days...

Visiting the Goats

We hadn't visited the goats in a while, so after church we decided to go and check them out.  There were quite a few kids and we enjoyed watching them play.

Nathan hesitates to try and touch the goats even though both Barry and I touch them first.  But, he is going through a "scary" phase and most loud sounds and unusual things are "scary".  We're continuing to try to do different things to help expand his experiences and help him to see that it's okay.

Hanging out at Momma's Work

I'm in the midst of a big project at work, so my boys joined me for a few hours of work today.  Don't they look so serious?!

They also had some play time...  Can you catch what Nathan's saying?
Nathan:  I'm coming.
      ROAR!
Barry: Oh my goodness!

They did this several times.  Crazy boys!

Potty Time?

When we picked Nathan up on Friday, we were met by his teacher who excitedly shared that Nathan went potty in the toilet today!  Wow!  We have had him sit a couple times, but I don't believe that he's truly associated what goes on in his diaper with going on the toilet.  He continues to try and we'll see what happens!

Loved On

[Sorry for the poor image quality on these two pictures, but I think you get the idea!]

This has been a week of being loved on!  First, on Monday, Nathan got a box in the mail.  Look what he got:
Nathan's cousins in Virginia sent him a stuffed Cookie Monster and a book that has the buttons that make sounds to go along with the story.  He loves it!

Secondly, Wednesday, Nathan got a card in the mail with farm animal stickers from cousins in Michigan.  He has carried them around and had a minor crisis when we realized one of the horsie's eyes is gone.

Thanks for the love! :)

Two for Tuesday

Every morning when we walk into daycare, Nathan has to go over and see the fishie.  He looks it over and says hello!  Maybe since we don't have kitties anymore, we'll end up with some at our house!
9/21/12
He started loving on animals at a young age, right?!

New Glasses

Glasses - take 3!

We picked up Nathan on Friday night to find that his glasses were broken.  We expected that it would take another week to get them back, but thankfully they had another set of frames there at Wal-mart and the optician was able to replace the lenses in the new ones.

As I looked this picture over, you can really see the difference in the lenses.  The right lens is magnifying and you can sure tell compared to the left eye.  We're very hopeful that he's progressing well with these glasses and our next visit with the ophthalmologist will bring great results.

Cowboy Boots

This pair of boots has been worn by the boy cousins and it's now Nathan's turn!
Don't you think that his outfit is so cute?!

Last Swimming Adventure?

We hit a bit of warm weather over the weekend and decided to try one last swimming adventure.
As you can see, it took a while to get into!

Svimmin is so much fun!

Throwback Thursday

9/3/13

Doesn't that just bring a smile to your face?!
[Love his band -- that was a staple wardrobe item for months and months!]

Despite the trouble that he can cause and the frustration from his stubbornness, it's the little things he does that reminds you that you're doing okay.

A is for ...

AIRPLANE!

Nathan's class was supposed to bring something that began with the letter "A" to daycare today as they have been focusing on the letter "A" for the month of September.  I'm not sure that this really worked since he calls it a plane, but we tried, right?!

Today was also the first day with the season change that Nathan wore pants!  Actually, he wore a jacket as well since it was in the low 50s when we left the house.  We're glad for the cooler weather, how about you?!

Family Fun

We spent some time outside after church on Sunday since it was so nice and got a family pic!

We've decided to change the small group that we're going to which also changes the day that we go.  Part of the reason was so that we could have the whole day Sunday together.  So, we're continuing our summer schedule and enjoying the whole day hanging out at home.  Hopefully this will be a good routine to establish for our family.

Fixing Momma's Bike

We had an adventure yesterday.  Nathan and I decided to ride over to the library as it was something to do on a very pleasant day.  I got everything together and we got our jackets and helmets on.  We started going and I noted that my back tire was low but I figured I'd be okay to do this short trip.  Boy was I wrong!
We were on the street that the library was on, riding on the sidewalk, when I hit an uneven part. The tire locked up and that was the end of the ride.  When I hit it, the child seat fell and one of the bolts got stuck in the spokes and nothing I could do would release it.  So, Nathan was crying and wanting to be held and I was struggling with figuring out what to do next.

Can you picture it?  I was walking down the sidewalk, carrying the bike with my right arm, holding Nathan's hand with my left and pleading with him to be a big boy and walk with Momma.  I'd have to stop for a few minutes and catch my breath, hold him, and then we'd go again.  I got the bike to the library and was able to lock it up.  We got our movie and then walked home!  What an adventure!

Barry picked up the bike in the Jeep that night.  Saturday we looked it over and he figured out a different way to have the bars fit on the bike so that hopefully this wouldn't happen again.  It seemed more secure so I think that it will work.  We took a short ride on Sunday and everything was back to normal.

"Don't worry, Daddy.  I got it!"
"I fix it!"

Jammies @ Daycare Day

We have a new teacher in Nathan's class at daycare and she's been trying to get some activities done for the class.  Today was wear your pj's to daycare.  He couldn't quite figure out why he was still in them, but you know!

Unfortunately, this was also another not feeling so great day, so he spent the majority of the day with Daddy at home.  TEETHING is driving us bonkers.  We will be sooooooo super happy when these molars are all the way in.  Meanwhile, we're enjoying our paci all day long and watching shows on TV.  Ugh.

Two for Tuesday

9/9/14
He's got his horsie and his lunch box so he's ready to go!

Unfortunately, this was short-lived as we were only 10-15 minutes away from daycare and got a phone call that he'd thrown up.  Poor thing!  He was acting a little weird, but ate his breakfast so we didn't know what was going on.  A little Momma-me time was needed, right?!

9/9/12
Wow!  My hair is short and evidently it must have been cool because we're all wearing long pants for church.  Loving the paci! :)

Time for a Ride

We were putting some items up in the garage and Nathan found his bike helmet.  He quickly asked to go for a ride so we decided to get the bikes out.  The last couple times we had gone he had cried and been frustrated with his helmet being too tight, so I guess a little time helped him to forget.

He was funny near the end (the last hill, actually) saying "Done. Done."  I encouraged him to look for our house and tried to make it home! :)

Early Morning Chores

Since someone has been waking at 4:15AM the last month or so, there has been lots of time available to help Momma and Daddy with their morning routine.  Typically Daddy puts up all the dishes that have dried over night so now he has a little helper.

So, the funniest thing happened last night.  As Barry was putting Nathan to bed, he was saying his good nights and said to Nathan, "Please try to sleep till 5AM."  Nathan sighed real big as if to say "I guess I'll try, Daddy."  Sure enough, he got up at 4:58AM!  My co-worker said that we should whisper to him to get up at 5:15AM tomorrow!

Two For Tuesday

Today - nephew and Nathan sporting their princess hats
[Ummm... Momma?!  Really?  I have to wear this?!]

Two years ago with Papa (July 2012)

Nathan talks a lot about Katherine (this nephew's mom), but after this past visit he was also saying his cousin's name too.  He likes to ask where Nana, Papa, and Katherine are.  He also asks where the cows, goats, and horses are.  He'll throw in an occasional other person (Mr. Robert - our neighbor) or thing (tractor), but those are the consistent questions he asks.

Another question he asks is to go swimming -- e-v-e-r-y day.  We did find some swimmie diapers (even though it's not the season anymore!) so we're good to go for 10 occasions. :)

More Weekend Fun

Lookie who has a kitty... :)

Jake is their new kitty.  He's quite active and gets into everything.
