New cards

I made this little 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch card for a good friend from church.  I used the same materials (for the most part) on each of these three cards -- the circle letters, the same 5 or so printed papers.  But, on this card, I used a flower die cut and a purple square brad.  It turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself!
On these two cards, I used a regular sized card and these cool flower embellishments that I got as a set from Target on clearance.  It's neat to be able to go through scraps and find so many papers that match.  I used the square print as my main pattern and tried to match it with the other papers.  So, there is a smattering of purples, greens, and blues.  If I had more letters, I would do a few more of this same color palette, but, I've pretty much used up the ones that I have.  They were a find as well in the $1 spot.
The thanks card will go toward a set of 6 cards for a co-worker (who's placed another order for cards!) and the give one is for my sister.  The quote inside the give one is the inspiration: "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." (Winston Churchill)  After the great weekend we had, I wanted to say a little word of thanks.  I focused on the "i" in give because it's not about what I should have, but what I have to give.

Fun Memorial Weekend

We got to go to my sister's house for the long weekend.  They live in Bluefield, West Virginia.  This is the first spring for them in this house so we did a lot of work in their yard to clean it up and get it usable.  We were quite productive and wished we had done some before/after pictures.  The kids are super cute and fun to be with.  It's too bad that it's a 6 hour drive to get to them.  It was a great time!

More little cards

For some reason, I've been inspired with these little cards -- sort of like the Pass it On cards that you find that offer little words of encouragment. Anyway, these are for two other ladies at my office that I know are going through some difficulties. Even though I used the same materials, they each have a different look. I had a bag of these letters that I got for $1 and hadn't used before. They are sticky on the back, but I still had to put glue on them to get them to stick since they were on the organdy ribbon. I wrote Philippians 4:19 on the back, "And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches which have been given to us in Christ Jesus." Good thought for anyone!

Rodney the Turtle

Rodney the Turtle (named by Barry) came into our yard sometime overnight. Barry found him this morning when he was taking the trash out. First pic is in our yard. Barry said this was not a good habitat for him, so we put Rodney in a box (2nd pic) and took him with us this morning. There is a pond by my office building that we thought would be a nice new home for him. He had a precarious ride in the box (and left a mess in the box), but he made it! The last pic is of him in the new habitat. Sorry to the family we took him from. Hopefully he'll make it better here than at our house.

Little Thinking of You cards

These aren't the best quailty pictures, but I actually made up these cards before work at my desk and only had my phone on me for the picture. I guess since I was trying to get it up close, it caused it to be fuzzy.

Anyway, I have had two ladies on my mind who are going through a lot of stress at work. So I took the time to write out a verse and a little note to say that I was praying for them. I made these with old business cards and paper in my scraps pile. Brenda's has bubble letters on it and Abby's has a ladybug. Hope you're having a great week!

Another Pie?!

This is actually the 4th Peanut Butter Pie that I made this week!  I had the first pie for birthday lunch, Barry had one for a lunch at his work, and we made 2 for our community group dinner on Sunday night.

Phew!  I think that's enough pies for a while.

Rick's Birthday

My boss, Rick, was out-of-town for his birthday so today is the big celebration! My goal was to do navy & yellow since he's a Navy man, but the blue didn't turn out right. We're having a break for him this morning.

Birthday Lunch Treat

It's the 2nd Wednesday of the month so that means it's Birthday Lunch! This time I made a peanut butter pie. Actually, I made two last night so that Barry can take one for his company picnic on Thursday.
We're also planning on making this for our Communinity Group on Sunday.
That's lots of peanut butter pies! :)

Owl

A friend of mine is having a birthday and I wanted to have something homemade in her gift. I know she likes owls so I made this. The owl's body is made of felt. I stitched on it for the wings, eyes, etc. and then did a blanket stitch around the body to adhere it to the cloth. I also stuffed a little batting in between so that it stood out a little bit.

What do you think? It turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.

Roses

We did our big grocery shopping on Saturday and had a great find! Since Mother's Day was Sunday, all their bouquets were half off. We got this lovely bunch of roses for $5. They have been opening up and look fantastic!
We found some other deals too, but I'll save that for another day.

Happy Birthday, Rick!

It's my boss's birthday next week, but he's going to be out of the office on assignment.  I'm going to give this card to him tomorrow.  He really likes Alabama, so I used Alabama red and when I wrote Happy Birthday, the As are like Alabama As.  I put 3 silver brads up in the black square.  I'm really liking this rectangle design!

When you eat your Smarties...

Have you heard the jingle:
"When you eat your Smarties,
Do you eat the red ones last?
Do you suck them very slowly,
Or crunch them very fast?
Eat that candy-coated chocolate,
But tell me when I ask,
When you eat your Smarties,
Do you eat the red ones last?"

We just came back from a trip to Canada and one of the things that we got was a bag of Nestle brand candy that you can't get in the U.S. I've had this song running through my head all week and thought I'd take the opportunity to share it. These are sort of like M & Ms but the candy coating tastes different. You should try them some time!

Soccer Time

One of the last things we did before heading back to Tennessee was attend Brianna's soccer game. Here she is in the middle (#3). It was a nicer day but windy. Her team showed a lot of skill. The other team scored first, but Bree's team came back and scored 6 unanswered points. Go Team Hamburg!!!

Chuck E. Cheese Fun!

The kids didn't have school on Friday due to an in-service day so we took them to Chuck E. Cheese! It was a fun time. I really wanted to get enough tickets to get cotton candy. I almost had enough, but when we all chipped in our tickets, one of the kids let me use 22 of theirs!
