Dinner Time!

Barry & I have never been good about eating at the table.  When we have guests, of course, we'd set everything out and sit there, but when it was the two of us, we'd eat on the couch in front of the TV.  Up till a month ago, you would have still found us there.  Nathan would be on a blanket playing with toys and we'd be eating our dinner.  Now that Nathan wants to eat everything we're eating, this is not an option.  We'll serve the majority of Nathan's dinner to him while ours is cooking and then we'll sit down and he'll eat a bit of ours too.  So, here we are, eating dinner!

(Do you see Nathan stretching his legs out under the tray of his chair?  He does that all the time!)

Can you see me?

It was raining outside this morning so Nathan had to wear his ball cap.  It's actually fitting really well now and he didn't try to take it off once!

"You can't see me, Momma!  I'm in camouflage!"

Despite the storms that wreaked havoc in our area, we all slept well last night and had no problems.  Thank God for His protection.

Two for Tuesday

Barry and Nathan are playing with a Christmas gift -- a bee that moves to help encourage crawling.

Progress on the top teeth...

Toadally!

"No, Momma!  I don't want my picture taken!"
"Fine.  Take the picture.  But, I'm not happy about it!"

I couldn't resist snapping some pictures this morning with the "toadally cute" shirt on.  In fact, he smiled big when he saw the frog on his shirt.

I've been very delinquent taking pictures over the last week.  Nathan's been struggling with his teeth (working on 3 teeth that we can see) and just trying to figure out his place as he can do more things.  Mornings have been crazy with lots of tears and whining (shame on Barry! :)!!!) so I've been rushing around and not having a chance to snap a picture or two.  I promise to do better, okay?  Will you pray for us?  We need wisdom as we work through the weaning process and it's been struggle to know what to do.

Sleeping in the Car

I couldn't resist taking this picture (with my phone) of Little Bit sleeping.  Sundays are always rough because just the time that he'd be taking his first nap of the day, it's time to go to church!  He lasts usually about 5 minutes before he's zonked in his car seat.

Poor thing!
Do you notice what he's done with his feet?  He's got his ankles crossed.  This is a typical posture for him whether awake or sleeping.  In fact, in utero, we have a picture of him with his ankles crossed.
Sleep well, Baby.

With Momma

 "I want the camera, Daddy!"
"Ok.  I'll smile with Momma."

This was an impromptu smile session.  Seems like each morning we're rushing to get everything done and Little Bit doesn't want to be set down anywhere.  I look back over the year and think about all the times that I did just hold him and wish that my first inclination wouldn't be to think that I'd get done what I needed to do quicker if I wasn't holding him.  He wants to be into everything with us and that probably won't be true in a few years.  So, I hold him tight and try my best to do whatever it is with him in my arms.  Love that little guy.

Two for Tuesday

Can you see his teeth?  The top two are working there way in and the bottom two are coming in strong!
Here's a close up, but I don't know that you can see them any better.

The cause of our pain and lots of hate & discontent!  Poor guy is trying his best to be growing up, but the whining and discomfort is a lot to deal with.  Plus, he's not been sleeping well at daycare which means the nights are even shorter with Momma & Daddy.  He's been heading to bed around 6:30 or so (Friday, Saturday, & Monday nights).  The saddest thing last night was that I had a dinner to go to for work (Barry decided to stay home) and he cried when I left. :(

Boy, those teeth!

Playing with Daddy

Playtime would not be complete until all the toys are out of the toy box!  He played his Christmas card from Nana & Papa over and over (and over!).
They both had blue thermal shirts on so it was time for a cute picture.  The only reason why Little Bit has his mouth closed while smiling is because he still had food in his mouth from dinner!

New Slippers

My sister was able to make some more slippers for Nathan.  Since they're jean material we're hopeful that they'll last longer than the corduroy ones.  She added some flannel inside to help keep his feet warm.
Here's a gummy grin.  His top two teeth have started poking their way through (Thursday).
A quick snapshot with Momma, before the day begins!

New Bath Tub

We were searching for a better option to bathe Nathan as the couple things that we tried just weren't cutting it.  So, we found this little inflatable pool/bath tub that was $15.  A little outrageous, if you ask me.  But, then we found out that the Huggies Reward Points that we'd been saving had this bath tub as a reward that you could use your points on.  Hurrah!  It said it could take 6-8 weeks for delivery, but it only took 4!

Tonight was the first night that we'd had time to blow it up and use it.  Instead of setting it in the tub (why do the logical thing, right?!), we decided to set it on the island in the kitchen.  We've had troubles with Nathan grabbing everything he can when he's at the sink, so it was a good thought, right?  Well, we set him in it (he didn't cry -- that's good, right?) and then the splashing began.  Barry had to rush and get some towels to place on the floor so that we wouldn't have a river running through the kitchen.

He did real good... still has eyes only for Daddy.  The other picture where he is looking at me is a tad indecent (so we'll save it for his wedding photo montage!), but cute none-the-less.

A new friend

We had the pleasure of meeting a new little friend last night!  Some good friends just had their first child, a boy, on Monday.  We've been able to bless them with baby clothes since the arrival is the same part of the year that Nathan was.  He's a cutey!

Playing

Nathan likes to start moving and scoot away to the kitchen (I guess because it's easier to move on).  He goes first to the water bottles and sees if he can turn them over and then over to the cats' water bowl (it would be in front of the blue tote, but I moved it already).  Then, he just goes around and sees what trouble he can get into!

This morning when I put him down, he grabbed up one of my slippers and started down the hallway to show Daddy!

What a cutey!

11 Month Turtle Picture

 Only eyes for Daddy!
"Ok, I'll look at you... as I throw the doggy at you!"
Mr. Magoo is getting too big for his britches and we had to be creative in where we placed the sign!  He kept grabbing for it and putting it in his mouth!  Just one more, Little Bit! :)

He still only has the two bottom teeth, but is scooting along as quick as can be.  He's making lots of different sounds and wants to eat anything we've got.  He's tried rice and spaghetti noodles this week.  He's got lots of hair -- in the back -- and will need to soon have it cut!  Maybe after he turns one.

Two for Tuesday

He is truly a HUG Magnet! :)  Course, he doesn't turn the girls away either!
Happy Tuesday!

Last Christmas Gift?

I know, I know.  We should have been better prepared for Christmas, seeing as this was the first one that we would have with Nathan.  But, things were tight and we just weren't sure how we'd accomplish this.

Saturday we were looking at the toy section in Wal-Mart just to see if they'd re-stocked from Christmas and  look what we found!  God provided the toy that we'd been looking for (to help Nathan as he transitions from scooting to walking) regularly $28 for $9!  WOW!
He's so excited!

Look at all the fun stuff on it!

"You mean I can push it too?!"

Too fun!
We look forward to lots of fun with this little cart/riding toy.  Pretty neat how God does that for us, huh?!

11 Months Old

Here's the big boy!  He's wearing an outfit he got for Christmas and just doing so great!
It's hard to believe how much he's grown in the last month.  Hopefully we'll get the turtle picture posted soon!
Here's a video showing Nathan scooting across the kitchen floor.  He's got my shoe with him.  (Sorry you have to crane your neck to see it!)

Messy Little Boy

Oh yeah!  Little Bit was enjoying his meal a little too much! :)

He's been steadily increasing the foods that he eats, but we haven't had too much variety.  I'm hoping to get a few things over the weekend for him to try.

[BTW, Blogger has been finicky with letting me post pictures so there will be a bunch of posts coming!]

Laughing (It's contagious!)

I don't know what got Barry to start making this sound, but Nathan just laughed and laughed.  Hope it brightens your Friday!

Two for Thursday?!

Bizarrest thing... I knew my mom had given us some bigger clothes for Little Bit and I was looking for something warm.  I had put on a long sleeves onsey and had his pants on.  I went to put the hoody on and noticed the size.  It was 18 months!  How did that happen?  His pants are 9 months!  It really didn't look big on him either.  I was trying to get a picture to show the cute animals on the front, but he wouldn't cooperate.  Maybe the next time!
"I got you, Daddy!"

Michigan Baby

We had to get a picture of Papa and Nathan to represent the bowl game on Tuesday.  Unfortunately, South Carolina won.  We are excited that Little Bit is big enough to wear this shirt now! :)
Hamming it up for the camera...
"Momma, my shoe is much more exciting than taking a picture."
I wanted to get a good picture of him in his shirt, but he just wouldn't cooperate (the camera has lost its appeal!).  He had a good visit with Nana & Papa, but I think he's coming down with a cold again.  Hopefully it won't be bad.

Happy New Year!

*Two for Tuesday*
Here our little family was on January 1, 2012!  Scooter was a big part of my life, but I had no idea what changes would be in our lives once he was born.  I could still do mostly whatever I wanted and didn't have to think about taking care of this little one - just the aches and pains I was experiencing.
Here we are today - January 1, 2013!  We're excited to be ready for the Michigan vs. South Carolina bowl game and have a big bundle of joy.  Thankfully we're sleeping through the night now, but are entering the mobile stage.  Nathan is able to get around and get into stuff now and wants to eat what we eat.  He's what I think about most of the day and wonder how he's doing at daycare.  Very rarely can I do something without considering how it'll affect him.

God has truly blessed us, don't you think?!
