Happy Easter!

The first egg!
I think I can do this!
 What do you see, Momma?
I can do it!
 Look at my basket!
In my Easter outfit

The weather wasn't very cooperative so we decided to do the egg hunt on Saturday to be sure that the boys would get to do it.  Then on Sunday, my mom hid the eggs over and over for Aaron as he was very interested in looking for them.

He is risen!  The service we went to was awesome!  What a wonderful way to remind us that Jesus paid the price for our sins and that He is no longer dead -- He's alive!

With Family

Hanging out with the boys!

Sitting in the van -- it was neat to be so close!

 Watching a movie

 Good night, Nana!

Traveling

We went to my sister's house in the Chattanooga area for the weekend.  So, we had close to 3 hours in the car.  Whew!  I brought lots of different toys & books so that we could make it.  Thank goodness that he fell asleep.  It's rough riding backwards!

Laughing

Thought you'd enjoy Nathan laughing!  He loves it when Daddy "gets" him!

With Elmo

I promised you a picture with Elmo and here it is!  My best friend from college sent a birthday gift and of course had to send an Elmo!  Elmo is/was her favorite item to collect.  In fact she has an almost life-size Elmo that she had on her bed.  Thanks, Mrs. Skye!

On another note, Nathan is struggling with those teeth!  We can see them in his gums, but they haven't poked through yet.  Poor thing!

Two for Tuesday*

* THROWBACK EDITION

So, one year ago this past weekend, we had Nathan's dedication.  My parents came for the service.  These two pictures are from that weekend.

"Nana, that is really what happened!"

"Really, Papa?!  I have lots to learn from you!"

The look on his face with Papa is just priceless!

Little Bit and Daddy are staying home and enjoying their time together.  Sounds like he's doing okay so he should be able to go back to daycare tomorrow.

Sick Boy

Sunday wasn't the best day for Nathan and we had an inkling that it would mean that he'd have to stay home on Monday.  Sure enough, we woke up Monday to a little boy who felt crummy and could barely see -- his eye was coated in gunky stuff.  So, he stayed home with Momma.
Look at the fun we get to do when we're sick -- cartoons!

Poor thing just wanted to lay on Momma.  This is where we were for a good portion of the day.

I don't believe that he really is sick with anything that's catching.  But, he is teething and had this cold on top of it.  He ate pretty good and slept a bunch so his body is trying to fight it. Since we gave Tylenol every 4 hours, he couldn't go to daycare on Tuesday... That means that Daddy gets to stay and have a fun day!

Hanging out with Nate!

Snuggling with Momma on the couch (notice the football in his hands!)

Please, Daddy, please pick me up!

Glad for the weekend to spend more time with our son!

My Birthday, again?!

Little Bit got 2 boxes in the mail today!
 What's this, Daddy?
A camera?!  Now I can be like Momma!
Ooooo!  A cellphone!  I know how to use that one!
Wow! A trumpet, more books, and Elmo! (I couldn't get the picture with him holding Elmo quick enough so that'll have to be for another day!)

We are overcome with the thoughtfulness from my dear college friend and Barry's family in New Mexico.  I got a couple more notes for Nathan's one year book so you can be looking for that post in the near future.  It's going to be a neat project.

Friday Fun

Here's that little boy showing off his front teeth!

This week has been rough with lots of teething issues and much crying.  Thankfully last night was a normal night and he was in a good mood!  This morning wasn't the best, but it's Friday!  We've got the whole weekend together and we can spend time together.

What do you have planned?!  Maybe some Easter shopping?  Have a great one!

Reading in the Morning

By now I'm sure that you know that Nathan is a book worm!  In the morning, though, when we're getting ready, there isn't time to read.  So here is the cool thing...  Barry's family made a recordable book that speaks the story for him.  So for the last week or so, he's been "reading" while I get ready
(I know that the book is upside down... I was trying to re-create the picture but he was not cooperating!)
He's getting to where he can almost turn all the pages himself.  Since they're not the thick pages he's used to in his board books, it's hard for him to get a grip on them sometimes.

Here's the book if you want to check it out...

Two for Tuesday

Playing with my toys

Nathan naturally gravitates to the books every time he goes into the living room and you usually have to read at least 2 or 3 before he moves on to something else.  This was the case tonight and he had me read more like 4 or 5 before he was satisfied.  Barry came in and then he was ready to play.  The blocks are Barry's thing, but Nathan likes to clang them together!  Tonight he also decided that it was time to pull everything out of the crate.  He was so exhausted that he came over to me and just laid his head down.  Poor thing!  Something is up but I don't know if it's teeth, growing, or just not getting enough sleep.

A new toy

One of my co-workers has a grandson a few years older than Nathan and has given us things here and there that he's outgrown.  She gave us this fun little puppy, named Scout that you can set to say the child's name, favorite food, and favorite color.  Then Scout will say things like, "Will you play with me, Nathan?"  It was really fun to see Nathan's reaction when it said it.  He's been having fun pressing the paws and getting Scout to do different things.  It's pretty cool!

At the Window (Part 2!)

I was trying to snap some pictures of Nathan smiling with his teeth showing, but wasn't too successful.  We had the door open again and he was just loving it!  The neighbor boys were riding bikes and stuff out on the road so he'd watch and yell.  The funniest part is when he puts his mouth up on the glass.  How do they learn this stuff?!

Nathan stood for a couple seconds on his own today with a book open in his hands.  He is trying to move from thing to thing (and being pretty creative if I do say so myself).  He did flop down a couple times with little incident so hopefully he'll figure out better how to get from standing to sitting!

He's been having a rough time with being dropped off and crying.  He cried for the first time at church today :(.  Very unusual!

Peering through the Window

The weather was sooooo warm on Saturday (our thermometer said 85 at one point!) that we had opened up the front door and had the screen door open.  It was like a new world had opened for Nathan!  He would stand there and yell at whatever he could see.  There were some girls out in their front yard at the house diagonally across the street from us and he'd just yell and yell trying to get their attention.

We went for a walk later after dinner and he was just loving being outside.  Yay spring!

Happy Friday!

The day is supposed to be warmer so we pulled out a baseball shirt to wear today.  Little Bit has been very chapped -- on his chin and above his mouth.  I've been steadily applying vaseline and it appears like it's working.

Nathan's been standing and holding onto things like a pro.  Unfortunately, once he's up, he just yells until you come to help him sit down!  It's rather comical.  We'll have to work on that this weekend!

Swinging

Even though this happened over the weekend, I thought you might get a kick out of it! :)  Nathan likes to swing!  Thank goodness our neighbor has a swing set that we can borrow!

The "After" picture

As promised, here is the "after" picture.  No more curls on this baby for now.  Since he does have a bit of wave to his hair (due to Daddy), he might have more curl come when the hair really starts filling in.

I have an envelope with the curls in it.  So sad.  My baby is growing up!

Two for Tuesday

It's amazing that the look on Nathan's face isn't much different from 1 year ago to today.  For some reason he was being extra serious when I snapped this picture!

Even at 1 month old he knew to look at the camera!  What have I done?!  His eyes look so much darker in the 1 month picture than the 13 month picture and there's not much hair in either of them!  One of these days, right?!

Playing at the Park

It was hard to resist the park with the awesome weather we had over the weekend.  The wind was a bit brisk, but it was well worth it.  There were lots of families and children and Nathan loved to people watch (as is evident with the lack of pictures where he would look at me!).

"I'm such a big boy!"
"Daddy, let me explain this to you..."

Miss Britta

Even though Nathan didn't cooperate so much for the picture, this is our first picture with Miss Britta.  Miss Britta is our babysitter (making her debut on the blog today!! :)  We've known her since Nathan was about 4 months old as she came "home" from college and started working in the nursery at church as well as working at our daycare.  She checks in on Nathan almost every day at daycare which is awesome for us!

Nathan loves her and we do too!

First Haircut

We'd been getting a few comments on the length of Nathan's hair and decided that since he was now the ripe age of 13 months, it was time for the first haircut!
 Before
 Before
From the first spray from the water bottle to dampen his hair till several minutes after it was all done, Nathan cried.  I guess it was fear of the unknown?  The hairdresser had been recommended by our babysitter and I was very glad for her experience.  I think that I might be able to do it myself the next time now that I've seen her do it.
I will get an "after" picture posted soon, but this little baby doesn't have any curls anymore :(.

Really?!

"It's March 7 and you want me to wear all this?!"

Wednesday, March 6, 2013

Thanks!

We were delighted to get a birthday package in the mail Monday from my brother & family.  We had asked for bibs and then they also gave this fun toy!  Nathan has enjoyed holding on to it when he nurses!  It's strange but true!  It's called Takealong Tunes and plays 7 classical pieces by Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin, and Rossini.  It also lights up and goes with the beat of the music.  Good job, Roberts' Clan!

Nathan pulled up all by himself -- no help whatsoever -- 2 times last night!  We are so proud of him!

Two for Tuesday

 Just horsing around!
"I got him right where I want him, Momma!"

"Well?"
(not sure why he stuck his fingers in Barry's mouth!)
