Family for New Years!

On their way back from Florida, Tod, Michelle, and the kids came to spend a few days with us. I had planned on having a little party to welcome in the New Year, but once they arrived and all, no one was much in the mood for snacking. We did stay up till midnight, but not much more. The kids decided to crash in the livingroom. It was a full house!

The FINAL Book!

I think that this book turned out the best -- or I guess it was my favorite of the 4. I would say that the reason why is I think I was finally in the grove of what I wanted. Not to say that the others weren't good, but I guess this one hit me more as the person who it was for is in much the same place in her life as me. On the birth page, you'll see a caterpillar that was used as a theme for Kadyn's announcement. He was nicknamed "toodlebug." On the yellow page you'll notice a cute little ducky that I added from the paper and made into one of those little pull toys. I was very glad to finally get these completed and given to my co-worker before we left for our vacation. I already have a few more ideas to make these better for the next ones. . . hopefully it'll be a science soon!

Book 3 of 4

This was a book for one of the aunts of Kadyn. I tried to use pictures that were related specifically to that side of the family, which added a different dimension to the project. This is a shorter, wider book. As you can see, his family is big into sports. . . Alabama Crimson Tide & the Tennessee Titans.

Our last day in SF

Dad got this little rocker from Menards for a great price and put it together for Chelsea. Isn't she so cute?! Her other vice (besides pluggies) is Ritz crackers. She's holding one in this pic. She loves them and I'm sure thinks that any day is a better day with a Ritz cracker. Maybe she could be a spokesperson?
So, we left, with this last view of Chelsea in our minds. It'll not be till July when we see her again!
But, we can keep up with her at their blog so that's a relief!

Day 5 Oh My!

One of my goals was to get a cool wintery, snowy picture. So, here we are!

Doesn't it look like we had a terrible time? Looks are deceiving though. We're standing in front of a pile in the corner of a parking lot. So not quite this much snow, but they have had a bunch.

Seemed like I was the one who could get Chelsea to sleep. I would shake her around and such, singing, etc. and then she would finally conk out. Kind of spoiled don't you think? But, it worked for the time being and it gave me some quality time with her. Only 1 day left before we leave :(.

Christmas Day

Opening presents was fun, once she got a hang of it!

Are there any gifts in here? I see lots of paper...

Uncle Barry! No more kisses! :)

My version of the family picture didn't work out quite as well as Jeremy's. You have my parents in the back. Then, Barry & I, Andrew & Kate, Lindsey, Chelsea & Jeremy. Lots of funny looks on our faces!

Isn't this just the cutest family?!

The Pluggie

The Pluggie is an essential accessory to any outfit. In fact, Chelsea had several different ribbons to attach to her clothing depending on the outfit. Today, she decided to be a bit more casual and wear her track outfit. She can stand by herself for a few seconds and if you hold her hands she'll walk a little. She would rather lean on you or something else right now. Pretty soon she'll be walking!

Day 3 of the Fun!

It was our day to take care of Chelsea because both Jeremy & Lindsey had to work. Isn't her outfit cute? I picked it out.
Here she is having fun with Aunt Katie. If we had thought about it earlier, they could have coordinated outfits. Chelsea had a pink Addidas outfit too! I think she had just woken up.

Pre-Christmas Fun

Our first day together involved breakfast (and lunch!) at Hy-Vee, some shopping, and playing! Chelsea started going up the stairs while we were there. Her look seems to say, "Catch me if you can!" I got to read books with her, too ! It was a great day.

Visiting family in Sioux Falls

My parents, Barry & I drove together 15+ hours to Sioux Falls to spend Christmas with my brother and his family. The weather today was bad so despite the strong winds and blowing snow, we made it to his house around 9:30pm. Chelsea could hear us moving around and woke up to see us. It wasn't probably very nice to wake her up even more by taking this picture, but it had to be done!
Can't wait to spend more time with her and her parents!

2nd of 4 books

Here's the second!  This book was made for one of the grandparents.  I did one page that was specifically about grandparents.  The quote says: "Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation."  I used paper that had dots all over it for the page.  Like I said yesterday, the monkey page was one that was in each book.  This one is a little different because of the monkey pictures that I had.  This book was just a 5 page one, shorter and wider.  The cover had a bunch of cute phrases about babies.

1st of 4 books

This was a book made for the parents of Kadyn.  You'll see some of the same pages in the other 3 books because the books were all about him!  Specifically, the monkey page, Titans page, and Christmas page were about the same in each book.  I tried to make the pages more appropriate for the person receiving them even though I had about the same pictures for each one.  This book had 7 pages and was more of the tall/skinny type than the other 3 books.  I think the cover of this one turned out pretty cool.

Crescent Bacon-Cheese Tartlets

We are having a birthday bash for 2 co-workers on Thursday. These two ladies have birthdays after Christmas, but with everyone travelling, we just felt that it would be better to do it in advance. Mine didn't turn out too pretty in comparison to Pillsbury's, but check out the recipe so that you can make them yourself. They were pretty easy.

Another Round of Cards

Another co-worker asked me to make up some verse cards for their Secret Sister and this is what I came up with. This was just a little side trip in the midst of the craziness with the books I'm making. I'll be showing pictures of the books in the next couple days.

Peppermint Red Velvet Swirl Cake

Last year, I found out that a very dear friend loved peppermint.  It so happens that at the time I had a subscription to Southern Living and came across this peppermint cake recipe.  This is a douzy to make -- two flavors swirled in three cake pans and peppermint/cream cheese icing!  [Both my husband and I have pinky-red fingers from the red velvet portion :).]  My friend loved the cake so much that she requested that I make it for her birthday & Christmas.  So, here it is, Christmas again and we had ourselves a little celebration and some yummy cake.  To top it off, we had Purity Peppermint ice cream!  "Num, nu-um," as her daughter would say!  I'll have to see if she can take a pic of what it looks like inside (I forgot to tonight).  Everybody loved it!

Baby Boy Book

Here's another project that I'm doing for a co-worker's Christmas gifts.  I'm make 4 books for various people in her grandson's life.  I have this one completed and began working on the next.  She was able to get me a variety of sizes of pictures so I've been able to put in a bunch.  It'll be a nice keepsake for his almost first year of life.

6 Thank You Cards

I had an order for six thank you cards for a gift that a co-worker is giving for a Christmas gift.  She let me pick the paper and then I did six different designs.  It was a pink/ivory flower pattern.  I had a pink mesh bag that they fit in just perfectly.

Secret Sis Part 3

I did one last set of Secret Sister cards and will have to call it quits for now. I have too many other projects that must be done before Christmas. I got one scrapbook done over the weekend and have 4 more to go. I'm waiting on pictures, so at least it isn't totally my fault for the delay. I have cards to make as well so chop, chop!
Hopefully I'll get some pics of the book on for tomorrow. It turned out pretty well if I say so myself! :)

Secret Sisters Part 2

With the success of the cards on Friday, I had a couple orders for more so I worked on making up some more.  The black one has 4 squares with each one different - faith, hope, love, I'm praying for you.  I made 3 of it.  There's just one of the middle one.  It has stickers that spells out FRIEND (sorry for the glare!) and then all around it says, "Praying for you, Thinking of you, Happy 4 U, May God richly bless you."  The last one I made 2 of and it says, "Friend, Sister in Christ, Co-worker."  I plan on making one more style since I have someone who ordered 5 -- then there will be 5 different designs.

This little venture is not only rewarding for me, but gives my co-workers another option for their secret sister!

Secret Sisters

I mentioned yesterday about having Secret Sisters at work. Since I made up the little verse cards for another co-worker, I took the time to make up these little cards and see if anyone would want to purchase them. They are just about 2x3 inches and I used the same letters and sentiments, but just different papers.

Hopefully they'll be a hit! (ALREADY SOLD BOTH OF THEM & HAVE ORDERS FOR MORE!)

Verse Cards

Today, a co-worker asked me to make up some verse cards for her. This is what I came up with. I think that they turned out pretty good. I used a variety of different papers, stickers, embellishments, and wrote in calligraphy and my normal printing.

We're doing secret sisters at work for the month of December. This will be a neat gift for one lucky lady.

Picture Frame Mat

The picture isn't the best, but this is an 8x10 mat I made for a baby girl picture.  The bottom right corner has paper that says "baby girl", "special delivery" and other sentiments.  In the bottom left corner there a purple hand print stickers.  The top right corner has a flower.  I used a variety of pink papers and then covered it with Mod Podge.

Thinking of You

Here is another of the cards that I made up for the stash at work. I like how the paper has all sorts of greetings which kind of makes it appropriate at any time. I was amazed to find the ribbon - thinking of you - that matched perfectly, in my stock of items at home.
This is going to be a big crafting week. I've got to get a huge chunk of orders completed so I won't have it hanging over my head. I have a few more items to purchase so that I can just devote myself to creating.

Peanut Butter Blossoms

Yummy! I tried this recipe for the first time last Tuesday for a work thing we did on Wednesday. They turned out pretty good so I'll have to keep this recipe on hand. I brought some with as we went to my sister's for Thanksgiving and my niece loved the chocolate part! :) The peanut butter cookie part was a little dry and not as big as I thought so I'll have to adjust for the next time. Yummmm! Check out the recipe here.
