The cupcakes

Since we have done frogs and turtles for Nathan's room, we decided to do a frog theme for his party.  I found directions on how to make frog cupcakes (see here) and we decided to go for it!

First you start off making the cupcakes... We found camouflage wrappers that were mostly green to be the base of the frog.  Then, it was on to making the eyes.
We got gumdrops that Barry cut in half.  Then I put a white chocolate chip in each end.
I used black icing to make the eyes.
Add a bit of green frosting on top and assemble with the eyes and draw the nose and mouth with the black icing.

To me, they looked like monsters, but the kids said no, that they looked like frogs!  Yum, yum!

Birthday Gifts

A few gifts:
A sock monkey from our friends in Arkansas

 My first cell phone!

 A fun popping toy

A shape sorting house

A cupcake?!  He had a little bite as it was getting close to bedtime!

Thankfully, Little Bit took 2 naps at daycare so that he was a little more willing to party hardy!  We had macaroni & cheese for dinner (a favorite) and opened gifts.  He did have a bite of cupcake, but we'll save the big excitement for Saturday when there's more time for the sugar to wear off! :)  He's a big boy!

Happy Birthday, Nathan!

Here's the first of many birthday pictures, I'm sure!

We are so excited to celebrate our little guy's birthday.  Stay tuned to see the festivities!

Two for Tuesday

Here I am 1 year ago...
Here's Little Bit today!

As Super Bowl Sunday came, I began thinking more about what life was like 1 year ago.  See, that Sunday was the last full day that we had without Nathan.  We went to a Super Bowl party and through it, I had several calls from people wondering if today was going to be the day.

We went through Monday and didn't think too much about it.  I had a doctor's appointment (I was going weekly) and Barry stayed home with me.  We decided at the last minute not to put the luggage in the car (bad decision) and headed on in to Nashville. At the appointment, my blood pressure was high again so they sent us to the hospital.  We were admitted again (pros, now, since it was the 4th time) and they were so full that we were put in the high risk area.  Only God knew that my high blood pressure was going to be the saving grace for Nathan.  See, while they had me hooked up to the equipment, they began to notice that while my contractions were minimal, pretty frequently his heart rate would drop when I had one.  That was the beginning of a whirlwind!

Lots of emotions as I think back to Nathan's arrival.  Wow!

Super Bowl Fun

Daddy & Nathan had to get in the mood and wear their football jerseys.  (Nathan has his over his jammies!)
Nathan's been doing his finger like a 1 -- practicing for Wednesday of course!  But, it looks like they're saying, "Our team is #1!"

This picture didn't turn out so well, but you can see us with our Super Bowl goodies hanging out and watching the game.

It snowed!

It snowed overnight both Thursday night and Friday night.  Friday it was sunny so those areas that were touched by the sun melted.  The high was only in the 30s so overnight and early Saturday morning, it snowed again.  We were able to let Nathan see the snow and touch it, but he wasn't too excited.

(Don't you like their matching Lions ski caps?!)

One Year Ago & Today

One year ago...

Today...

WOW!  We are getting so close to the birth-day. I can hardly believe it.  What a year it's been!

Little Bit is struggling so much with his teeth.  It's so sad.  I hate to load him up on Tylenol, but there's not much else that I can do for him.

We're excited for the weekend.  How about you?!
