Zoo Day

Camels
Penguins
Rhinos
Lions

We had a great time at Potter Park Zoo and got to see animals that we don't have at the Nashville Zoo. It was a smaller zoo, but we had an awesome time checking out all the attractions. Yay!

Nana and Papa stayed over and since the weather was awesome, we headed to the zoo!

We had such an awesome time and got to see lots of animals too. It was a great time!

Flamingo Fun

The flamingos have become one of my favorites as we've visited the zoo almost monthly this past year. The sounds they make, the way they interact with one another, the change in color of their feathers -- it's all pretty interesting!

Nathan posed with me by these lovely birds!

This was back in September and see how the color is different?

Birthday Zoo Trip

What could be a better way to finish out the birthday celebrations than a trip to the zoo?!
Nathan & the macaws
Snack time!
Llama, llama, red pajama....
Nathan was especially brave and brushed quite a few goats.

"You're doing a great job, Brother!"
Those are some huge turtles!

The weather was so nice and we loved being coat-free in February!

October's Zoo Trip

We took Friday and enjoyed the morning at the zoo. Zach was much more into the animals this time. It was also neat to see the animals active and be in the zoo when there weren't very many people there. By the time we left, there were tons of school children on field trips there.

See the joey?! It was neat watching him eat while still in the pouch.
This was actually the second baby we saw. The first was a blond gibbon.

The other neat thing that we saw was in the aquarium where a keeper was feeding sting rays. That was very unusual. We were glad to have our friend Lora come and spend time with us too. It was a great morning!

Friday Flashback

I think this is the last installment of Friday Flashback since our July visit to the zoo happened just before Zach's birthday which is when I started back with the blog.

Monthly Zoo Trip

Since having the family membership to the zoo, we go every month (to make it worth our while!). A month had passed since our last trip so we decided to go after church today and hope to enjoy the time before the heat of the day. It was a nice plan, but didn't quite go the way we had wanted. There were a TON of people and it was very warm. But, we found some shade and drank a lot so it wasn't too bad.
Kangaroos lounging in the shade. The one on the left had a joey! The zookeeper said that it was big enough to come out of the pouch and had hair on it. Pretty cool.
 Being silly with the kangaroos!
Nathan wanted me to take a picture. He likes zebras. His new favorite show is Lion Guard and he likes to say what the zebras say "Panic and flee!" His version doesn't quite sound like that but Barry enlightened me to what he was saying.
Back by the grasses the alligator was peeking out of the water (look down the log and a little to the right). Zach loved it.
Checking out the flamingoes (another fun word to hear him say)
We saw 4 giraffes and can't wait for the rhino's habitat is finished as they'll be neighbors.

Zoo Venture

It was time for our monthly trek to the zoo, and since the highs were going to be in the 80's we thought it would be a good day to go (Sunday after church). Let me just say, IT WAS HOT! Whew! We sweated, and sweated, and sweated some more.

Here are some highlights to this month's trip:
Our first stop this time was at the playground.  Nathan loves to play on this huge wooden structure. He wanted us to go in the snake, but the opening is too small for either Barry or I to fit.
We brought cash this time so Daddy & Nathan went for a train ride.
This is the only place where you can see horses.
 Zachy and I watched :)
We got our picture with the sign (FINALLY!), but it wasn't very pretty...
[Sorry, Zach!]
Oh well. We can try again, right?!
Next time... You wanna join us next month?!
