Sunday Shenanigans

Nathan used some more birthday money for this cool Hot Wheels jump and a set of cars. The boys were trying to make it difficult so that I had couldn't get the cars to make it all the way to the end. We found there were only a couple cars that could make it all the way to the end -- maybe due to the weight of them -- I'm not sure.

Thanks Grandma, Amy, Keith & Traci & cousins!

More Celebrating

Nathan was super excited to get to choose another gift with money that he got from Nana and Papa. He is on a big kick with Legos and has been spending lots of time building whatever he can.

Thanks, Nana & Papa!

Satuday Celebration

We got together with our neighbors because each of the families had a birthday this month. Mr. Robert (burgundy shirt on the front right) and Mr. Ralph (blue shirt on the back left) each have a birthday in February too. Chick-fil-A was a great place to celebrate and surprisingly they weren't swarmed with people. Nathan said he was celebrating with his family (It was very sweet!).
Then, Nathan used his money that he got from Nana and Papa to get a set of Legos.
[The balloons are from Mrs. Jackie and Mr. Robert.]

Nathan's Birthday, Part 3

We made it home in the rain. Nathan was disappointed but it was his birthday, right? We couldn't get him to decide what he wanted to eat (It's a surprise!?) and finally he determined that he'd like pizza to eat at home. Zachy and I went to pick it up and Nathan and Barry got the living room ready for a picnic.
Another time to sing and blow out the candle!
We enjoyed our yummy pizza and breadsticks.

He opened his cards and gift from Uncle Tod & Aunt Michelle.

Look at all these fun Lego sets from the Michigan Stevens!
[Look at all the pizza sauce we missed wiping off his face!]

Nathn's Birthday, Part 2

After a wonderful breakfast of blueberry muffins, we headed on our way to school with cupcakes for the kids. Despite a bunch of ideas on what we could bring that all would like, Nathan was determined that the kids would need cupcakes. So, we packed up a muffin for Nathan and hoped it would work out okay. (He didn't even eat it :( said he wasn't hungry.)
We got to his classroom and Mrs. Christin had a fabulous sign and birthday hat for him. How fun!
At lunch, they had him stand on the bench and the class sang to him. He got to share his cupcakes at this time too.

Nathan's Birthday Part 1

We decided to take Nathan in to school today so we had somewhat of a leisurely morning. The boys both woke up before 5. We figured there would be time for gift-opening, so we got ready and Nathan opened his 6 gifts from smallest to largest.

He was very excited about Spirit (not the girl doll!) and actually took it to school for Show-N-Tell.
The other big item that Nathan has been looking for was a cowboy hat. He's on his way to being one fabulous cowboy!
He was so excited that he was twirling his right hand like he was doing a lasso. Yee haw!
Mrs. Jackie joined us for breakfast and brought a little gift for Nathan. (Zachy liked it a LOT - a horse trailer on a truck.)
Happy birthday, Nathan!!! Six is starting off with a bang!

Birthday Coundown

We've been counting down since 30 days before, yet I've not gotten a picture of it till now. I think this helps him to realize there are still so many days before his birthday and cuts down on the questions of how many more days.
He's asked for a couple things for his birthday so we should be set. We're not sure yet how we're going to celebrate.
 18 more...
[Why he decided to show you the watch, I don't know! :) ]
Look at this flashback... Look how small he was!

Thursday Throwback - Mrs. Jackie's Birthday

Mrs. Jackie's birthday - 8/8

Last year we did a sign in Mrs. Jackie's front yard for her birthday so again we did one this year. The boys helped color the sign.

[The boys wore their baseball shirts!]

Later that day, we came back and gave her lots of hugs!

We love our Mrs. Jackie!

Flashback Friday

This is a flashback to my birthday. I turned a monumental age.
My office got me a week or so before the actual day and did a huge surprise. It was very touching as they collected 40 (plus) gifts and also 40 (plus) kind words that were clipped around a birthday cake. After the date, the boys and I picked out some beautiful roses and took pictures together with them.

Isn't this the most hilarious picture of Zach?!

Here's what I posted on facebook....

Daddy's Birthday

It's Daddy's birthday and what else should you do but go to Chuckie E's (as Nathan calls it)!
We had leftover points from Nathan's birthday and figured that should be sufficient for a good time. In fact, we were the first ones in and even though we played for over an hour, we still had points leftover. Next time, right?!
Ride 'em, Cowboys!
Kicking the soccer ball

The boys did the cup of hot chocolate ride several times because it was so fun!

We all wore Tigers shirts to celebrate our special guy. It was great fun!

Birthday Tent

Part of Nathan's birthday gift was a tent that we had found at a bargain store. Unfortunately, when we went to put it together, it actually wasn't a tent inside the box. Therefore, we made another trip to the store to return it and see if we could find one that really worked. Although we paid almost double to replace it (the low price should have been the tip off that it wasn't what it showed itself to be), the boys have had lots of fun playing in it together. We took these pictures specifically for Papa because Nathan was excited to show him.

You think we could fit a few more in? You might be surprised! :)

Birthday Zoo Trip

What could be a better way to finish out the birthday celebrations than a trip to the zoo?!
Nathan & the macaws
Snack time!
Llama, llama, red pajama....
Nathan was especially brave and brushed quite a few goats.

"You're doing a great job, Brother!"
Those are some huge turtles!

The weather was so nice and we loved being coat-free in February!
